What families face the first week home

Whether a parent is discharged from a hospital in Melbourne, Palm Bay, Viera, Rockledge or Cocoa Beach, the discharge papers cover the medical side. They do not cover who will buy groceries, cook dinner, do the laundry from the hospital bag, or keep your parent company when you go back to work. That is the gap we fill.

We are not a medical provider and are not affiliated with any hospital. Medical instructions, therapy and nursing come from the discharge team and any home health agency they arrange. Our role is everything around it.

How we help after a hospital stay

Before your parent comes home: groceries stocked, the bed made with fresh linens, the walkway and main rooms tidied. After: meals cooked, rides to errands, pharmacy pickup, laundry and light housekeeping, and someone there for company so the days are not long and lonely. Many families start with daily visits for a week or two, then step down as their parent gets back to routine.

When the family caregiver needs relief

A hospital stay often leaves a spouse or adult child exhausted. Our respite care gives them a break, and our out-of-state family guide helps children who flew in and now have to fly home. See how families pay for home care for long-term care insurance and other options.

Medicare generally covers medical home health ordered by a doctor, not ongoing non-medical companion or homemaker help. Some families use long-term care insurance, VA programs or private pay; we explain options during the consultation.
